The Sullivan FFA Envirothon team will advance to the state contest for the first time ever after earning second place at the West Central Indiana Envirothon Competition Friday, March 15 at Ivy Tech in Terre Haute. This is the first Sullivan FFA Envirothon team to ever advance to the state contest. The team is sponsored by the Sullivan County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The Indiana Envirothon State Competition will be April 24 in Noblesville.

"The Indiana Envirothon Competition is a great opportunity for students in our Natural Resources classes to apply their learned skills in a competitive event,” said FFA Advisor Kevin Cross. “I'm very proud of these students. They are the first ever Sullivan FFA Envirothon team to advance to the state contest."

Students prepared for several weeks leading up to the Envirothon. At the event, the team listened to seminars from industry professionals. After the seminars, the team took a series of exams evaluating their knowledge in the areas of wildlife, forestry, aquatic ecology, soil/land use, and precision agriculture.
